How to Measure

Follow these simple steps for accurate measurements

Step 1: Underbust Measurement

Using a soft measuring tape, measure around your ribcage directly under your bust. The tape should be snug but not tight. Make sure it’s parallel to the floor all the way around.

Step 2: Bust Measurement

Measure around the fullest part of your bust, typically at nipple level. Keep the tape measure loose enough so it doesn’t compress your breasts. Wear your best-fitting unpadded bra for this measurement.

Step 3: Calculate Your Size

Enter both measurements in the calculator to get your accurate bra size in multiple sizing systems (US, UK, EU). Our algorithm accounts for all the nuances of bra sizing.

Why Accurate Bra Sizing Matters

Wearing the wrong bra size is more common than you might think – studies show that up to 80% of women are wearing bras that don’t fit properly. An ill-fitting bra can cause back pain, shoulder pain, poor posture, and even skin irritation.

Our bra size calculator uses advanced algorithms based on industry standards and fitting expertise to provide you with the most accurate size recommendation. We account for all the nuances of bra sizing, including:

  • Band size variations between brands
  • Cup size progression differences (US vs UK sizing)
  • How breast shape affects fit
  • Common fitting issues and how to adjust for them

Remember that your bra size is just a starting point. Different brands and styles may fit differently, so always try before you buy when possible. Our calculator provides a great foundation for finding bras that will fit you comfortably and support you properly.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about bra sizing and our calculator

How often should I measure my bra size?

We recommend measuring your bra size every 6-12 months, or whenever you notice significant changes in your body. Weight fluctuations, hormonal changes, pregnancy, and aging can all affect your bra size.

Why does my bra size vary between brands?

Different brands use slightly different sizing standards and fit models. A 34C in one brand might fit like a 32D in another. Always check the brand’s specific size chart and read reviews about how their bras fit.

What’s the difference between US and UK bra sizes?

The main difference is in cup size progression after D. US sizing typically goes D-DD-DDD-G, while UK sizing goes D-DD-E-F. Our calculator provides both for your convenience.

How tight should the band be?

The band should be snug enough to stay in place without riding up, but not so tight that it’s uncomfortable or leaves marks. You should be able to fit two fingers comfortably under the band.

What if my cup size is different between breasts?

It’s very common to have slightly different sized breasts. Always fit to the larger breast for comfort. You can use padding or inserts to balance the smaller side if desired.

How do I know if my bra fits correctly?

A well-fitting bra will have a band that stays parallel to the floor, cups that fully contain your breast tissue without gaping or spillage, and straps that stay in place without digging in.

Why does my calculated size differ from what I usually wear?

Many women wear bras with bands that are too large and cups that are too small due to outdated sizing methods or limited size availability in stores. Our calculator uses more precise modern fitting techniques.

Do I need to measure differently for sports bras?

Sports bras often use different sizing (S, M, L) or bra sizing with more compression. Check the specific brand’s size chart, as sizing can vary significantly between brands.

How do I measure for a maternity or nursing bra?

For maternity bras, measure when your breasts are at their fullest (usually in the morning). Nursing bras should have some room for fluctuation and easy access for breastfeeding.

What if I’m between sizes on the calculator?

If you’re between sizes, consider your breast shape and personal preference. Fuller breasts may do better rounding up, while less projected breasts may prefer rounding down. Try both sizes if possible.
