SSC MTS (Staff Selection Commission Multi Tasking Staff) is a government examination for recruitment to non-gazetted, non-ministerial posts in various Central Government departments and ministries. The posts include Peon, Daftary, Jamadar, Junior Gestetner Operator, Chowkidar, Safaiwala, Mali, etc.
The rank is calculated based on normalized marks obtained by the candidate in the examination. The normalization process considers factors like difficulty level of different shifts. Final rank is determined by sorting all candidates in descending order of their total marks, with category-wise ranking also provided.
Candidates must have passed Matriculation (10th class) or equivalent from a recognized board. Age limit is generally 18-25 years for General category, with relaxations for reserved categories as per government norms. Age is calculated as on the cutoff date mentioned in the official notification.
The exam consists of two papers: Paper-I (Objective Type) with four sections (English, General Intelligence, Numerical Aptitude, General Awareness) of 25 marks each (total 100 marks), and Paper-II (Descriptive) in English or any language included in the 8th schedule of the Constitution. Paper-II is only for candidates who qualify Paper-I.
